An understanding, of sorts…

By Joey

I’m beyond naming names; but those involved should understand what I mean.

I pretty much wrote this, verbatim, to someone who was kind and fair enough to ask my side of the story, a few moments ago:

I think that if actual communications took place, the insignificance of my comment would had been understood and I would certainly had apologized if someone claimed to be fearful of anything I wrote.

I’m not a saint and surely got carried away writing any such comment even to a fictional character; but I had no clue my words were misunderstood until 10 days later. Justified or not, I still have a heart (and a good sense of legal decency) and would never want anyone to worry about my intentions. It is sad the entire series of events unfolded the way they did when simple, direct communications could have avoided the entire thing.

Or, arguably, I should not have wrote what I wrote. Fine, maybe not; many things wouldn’t be written if every possible interpretation were contemplated.

My political incorrectness aside, unless additional information reveals itself, I continue to see the entire situation as an attack on criticism or satirical expression partly because too many days went by without any communications; though, there are far more reasons. The myths of anonymity are exactly that: myths. I was always reachable [and my identification was known].

However, in the end, I can speak no more of someone else’s motivation than they can of mine — not without directly asking. And I tried to ask. If only the same courtesy were returned by the principal characters instead of only by a few altruistic and kind strangers with good and objective intentions… if only…

4/6 Update: I wish everyone well; Jim Turner @ One By One Media put most of the pieces together, fairly I believe. If he believes she is sincere, I too will seriously consider it.

4/7 Update: Sincere? I’m starting to think “sincere” is a relative term. She may actually believe what she’s saying, just not using “normal” thought processes.
